This was a body of work inspired by the chalkboards that set the scene for certain school settings in porn. I was interested in what was chosen to be scribbled on the board before the scene started. I like to think of these as portals into a different social reality where certain mystified topics like pleasure and consent and queerness are talked about as part of a sex ed curriculum. The works are constructed is inverted paintings, with the stretcher bars mimicking the frame of a chalkboard. This was the first body of work where I experimented with wax pastel rubbings and acrylic paint together.
